May 10, 2021 – Shawn D. Stewart was selected as a Semi-Finalist for the Baltic Writing Residency Kentucky Writers Fellowship for 2020. Two stories we submitted and both selected. Story one, “For A Rock That Burns”, is a short-story focused on the allure and danger of coal mining in Appalachia. Story two is an epistolary true story of 1930’s railroad workers in West Virginia called “Ruts”.

I want to personally thank Baltic Writing Residency for all their hard work and sticking with it in the face of the pandemic. I am honored by the selection and hope that someday I will have something worthy of their Scottish residency prize!

Hopefully these stories will find a published home in the near future.
